For most of his life, he was hard of hearing. He had to carry a large, heavy box on his belt with some equipment to help him hear what people were saying. But he soon found a job at Texas Instruments, and it was there that he invented something to help him hear better without having to carry that big, heavy box. Little did he know that his little invention would revolutionize the world of technology and create the world of computers, calculators, and other electronic devices as we know them today.
His name was Jack Kilby, the inventor of the integrated circuit. The technological revolution that followed the invention of this device is a testimony of the difficulty he faced and overcame, and also how he helped others in a way he never could have imagined. When Kilby went home to be with the Lord in 2005, the world paid its own homage to this man--induction into the Inventors' Hall of Fame. There, he joined the throng of the world's greatest inventors--people like Thomas Edison and Orville and Wilbur Wright. My grandfather worked for Texas Instruments from 1957 to 1991, and he witnessed this technological revolution first-hand, thus making him a witness of what God can do through a person in spite of his handicap.

The Body of Christ
The apostle Paul wrote much concerning conduct in the church and as believers in Christ. I attended the College and Career Sunday School at Canyon Creek Baptist Church in Richardson, Texas, where the teacher talked about how Christ came down to earth as a human and became the supreme example of how we should live our lives.
Even among members of the church, there is a sense of competition--that we should try to outdo one another in ability or income or performance. This should not be so among members of the church, because both men and women have a part to play in the church and in this world. Christians should be willing to serve in any aspect of ministry that God calls them to, whether in a position of authority or as a simple everyday worker, because we all have the same goal--sharing the Gospel. Whether man or woman, we all have a responsibility to exercise the authority of the church and submit to the will of God in everything. If you want to know more about this, I encourage you to read 1 Corinthians Chapter 12.

First Official Weblog--September 22, 2007
Hello and welcome to the first official blog of the Voice of the Phoenix! I have recently graduated from a wonderful Christian college with a Bachelor of Science degree in Broadcasting, and I hope that this site will be an encouragement and help to you.
The nation of Israel is the most important nation on the face of this planet, for it is through the Jews that we have the Bible, the hope of eternal salvation and fellowship with God, and our Lord and Savior Himself, Jesus Christ. The prophet Ezekiel is a man who was given visions of New Jerusalem, and he emphasized the importance of the Davidic line in Chapter 34, verses 23 and 24 (KJV): "And I will set up one shepherd over them, and he shall feed them, even my servant David; he shall feed them, and he shall be their shepherd. And I the LORD will be their God, and my servant David a prince among them; I the LORD hath spoken it."
When God speaks, His word is sure. Since the beginning of time, He has done everything He has said He would do, and I am looking forward to the day when the new heaven and new earth will be created, with Christ Himself as absolute righteous ruler and shepherd of the entire world.
